The National Conference on Recent Trends in Banking & Finance
The National Conference on Recent Trends in Banking & Finance was Inaugurated on 1st May, 2010 at 10 AM in campus of Sobhasaria Engineering
College at Sikar.The Conference was organized by Department of Management
Studies.
The Conference was inaugurated by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor BITS, Pilani Dr. L.K.Maheshwari by lightening the lamp followed by Saraswati Vandana by
students of MBA -1st year in presence of Hon’ble Member Secretary Shri
H.N. Purohit and Dean Dr. Smt. Susheela Sharma. Prof. Praveen Kumar threw light on objective of the conference and related
teaching of management with Sri Madbhagvat Katha and Ramcharitmanas. He
narrated small story from Sri Madbhavat Katha confirming existence of
banking in that period. He told the audience how temples acted as banks in
ancient period and how nationalization changed face of banking by reaching
to lowest level of society. He discussed banking pre independence, pre
nationalization and post liberalization.
Prof. Wg. Cdr. S.P. Kaushik, Director of the college read out the message
of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot and welcomed the all the
dignitaries including Prof. Dr.L.K. Maheshwari, Vice Chancellor-BITS,Pilani, Shri S.C. Maheshwari, Vice President-Bank of Rajasthan, Bikaner,Mr. G.S. Chauhan, Managing Director, Saras Dairy, Palsana and Mr. SanjayGupta, Regional Manager, ICICI Bank, Jaipur.Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Regional Head of ICICI Bank, Jaipur emphasized
importance and life style of youth which considerable impacted the recent
trends in banking.
Mr. S.C Maheshwari, Vice President, Bank of Rajasthan talked about
banking before liberalization which was considered painful by customers.
He said how recent trends like RTGS have changed the life of customers where they save lot of efforts in first preparing the demand draft and then sending it by courier. Now, with
RTGS, money is transferred directly in account of beneficiary in fewminutes on payment of as low as Rs.5/-
Prof. Dr. L.K. Maheshwari emphasized the need of developing model by engineers using right mix of technology & behavior.He said that ethical practices by banks are must and banks must compensate people whose amount is not paid but yet debited by ATM Machine. He narrated how lives of fishermen have changed with mobile banking and how technology has been used by BITS Pilani to conduct online exams successfully since 2005 with 1.4 lacs students.
At the end of inauguration session, Prof. S.C. Roy thanked all
dignitaries, Media Persons, participants and entire team of management
department headed by Prof. Praveen Kumar.
Participants came all the way from Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Haryana, Punjab,
M.P. U.P., Delhi and Rajasthan.
