The systematic information about nature is termed as science. Use of this scientific knowledge in man’s daily life is further termed as Applied Science.
Broadly speaking Applied Sciences is the basis of engineering studies. This premier institute of engineering comprises of departments of Applied Science viz.- Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Humanities.
Physics develops scientific approach and attitude in aspiring of engineers. It is the key to all the branches of engineering. Our physics lab is very well organized and well equipped with modern apparatus and devices, consisting of experiments from electronics, electrical and optics. Chemistry dealing with material ensures all engineering students to develop analytical skills, scientific attitude and knowledge regarding industrial & applied chemistry. The curriculum of engineering chemistry incompasses, economic & optimum use and application of fuels & materials viz.- cement, Glass, refractory, manufacturing of fibers, protection of environment etc.
The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences forms an integral part of the Applied sciences faculty. The Department focuses on the teaching of key concepts in the fields of Political Science, Sociology, Economics and Public Administration on the one hand and some aspects of the English language and development of Communication Techniques in English on the other.
The training is imparted to the students through class lectures, seminars, presentations and group discussions which prepare them to face interviews for jobs with confidence and equips them to speak and write an internationally intelligible variety of English with ease and fluency.
The key concepts of Social Sciences create an awareness in the budding technocrats about national and international issues which is complementary to their technical knowledge.
Mathematics, the science of signs, symbols and numbers, is the backbone of engineering students. The main aim of this department is to develop amongst students the logical and analytical skills through optimization techniques, complex analysis etc.
Thus with the help of Applied Sciences, we can move our students swiftly to their respective engineering courses for better future. The faculty is involved in research and other academic activities. |
