All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is a national-level council for planning, formulation and maintenance of norms and standards, quality assurance and ensuring coordinated and integrated development and management of technical and management education system in India. It has been established in November 1945 under the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development first as an advisory body and later on in 1987 given statutory status to fund in priority areas, monitor, evaluate and maintain parity of certification and awards as part of the graduate and postgraduate programs under specific categories at Indian institutions as per its charter.
The approval of the college under the AICTE Act ensures:
1. Greater emphasis on plan oriented teaching, teaching of design methodologies, problem solving approach.
2. Greater exposure to industrial and manufacturing processes.
3. Exclusion of outmoded technologies and inclusion of the new appropriate and emerging technologies.
4. Greater input of management education and professional communication skills.
